The intraoral camera is a small, handheld tool that gives your dentist a closer look at your teeth and surrounding oral structures. It is especially useful for capturing images of hidden spots that are difficult to see with the naked eye. The intraoral camera delivers incredibly sharp images that aid in the diagnosis and treatment of a range of dental issues, and it allows your doctor to show you what’s going on in your mouth. And to us, anything that improves patient-doctor communication is worth its weight in gold -- and then some.
Traditional film X-rays have been left in the past at our practice. Now, our doctors and specialists rely on state-of-the-art DEXIS® Digital X-Rays for exceptionally detailed images of your smile that provide essential diagnostic and treatment information. There’s no darkroom development, hazardous chemicals, or bulky storage systems with digital X-ray technology – we can share the photos with patients within seconds after they’re captured, and certain areas can be enhanced and magnified for educational purposes. Better yet, the amount of radiation a patient is exposed to during the process is dramatically reduced by up to 80 percent.
CT/Cone Beam Scanner (3D Imaging)
Digital X-rays are enormously valuable when treating patients, but they do have certain limitations. Our dental cone beam computed tomography (CT) scanner allows for a more comprehensive understanding of your oral health. This scanner creates a detailed, three-dimensional image of your teeth, soft tissues, bone, nearby facial structures, and more. CT scans are especially useful in certain procedures, including:
- Planning the surgical placement of dental implants.
- Identifying and organizing treatment for impacted teeth.
- Diagnosing TMJ disorder.
- Determining the positioning of sinuses, nerve canals, nasal cavities, and other important structures.
- Detecting and measuring jaw tumors.
- Planning orthodontic treatment.
Soft Tissue Laser
Instead of relying on traditional scalpels, our doctors use modern soft tissue lasers to treat gum tissue in a safely and comfortably. The soft tissue laser is a minimally-invasive tool that allows us to treat periodontal disease through the removal of bacteria and diseased tissue. Gum recontouring with the soft tissue laser creates a more aesthetically pleasing, uniform smile. The sterilization and healing process begins immediately during your procedure, and bleeding is minimized to the point that most patients won’t even require sutures.
DIAGNOdent Laser-Assisted Cavity Detection
With DIAGNOdent technology, our dental team can locate and treat tooth decay earlier than ever before. A laser diode enables us to closely inspect your mouth, first establishing a benchmark reading by covering healthy enamel surfaces and then reviewing any and all suspect areas, including deep grooves, fissure lines, biting surfaces, and more. Variations that stray too far from the established healthy baseline will be recorded and inspected more closely – even areas that aren’t yet visible to the naked eye! That means we’ll be able to place smaller fillings and preserve more healthy tooth structure so that patients can enjoy stronger, happier smiles.
Laser Zoom! Teeth Whitening
There’s no shortage of teeth whitening products available today. Some offer whiter teeth in as few as three days. But for the best, whitest results, trust your dentist and Zoom! Whitening. In just one approximately 90-minute visit to Avanti Dental, you can enjoy teeth that are up to eight shades brighter. Zoom! Whitening combines the power of a super-concentrated gel with a powerful laser light to break through stains on the outside and inside of your tooth enamel. Even the most stubborn stains don’t stand a chance against laser whitening. With continued oral hygiene and good habits, patients enjoy their results for years after the treatment.
3Shape Digital Impressions
In preparation for dental crowns, bridges, inlays, or onlays, your dentist must create a three-dimensional model of your teeth. But if the thought of opening wide for a dental impression and biting down on that cold, uncomfortable cement makes you want to run away, we are thrilled to tell you about digital impressions. 3Shape allows your dentist to scan your mouth quickly and comfortably using a small handheld tool. With this information, a digital model of your tooth and surrounding oral structures is created. Your new crown or other restoration is created from this model. Used in CEREC one visit dentistry, digital impressions improve accuracy for far better results overall.
