Tysons All-on-4 Implant Dentures

Smiling man and woman outdoorsDealing with extensive tooth loss can be stressful, but at Avanti Dentistry, we offer our Tysons dental patients a wide array of tooth replacement options following advanced tooth loss, including full arch tooth replacement. During a tooth replacement consultation, we’ll help you evaluate your current situation and plan for the best restoration option for your unique smile. All-on-4 implant dentures are an effective full arch tooth replacement option for many patients. Combining the stability of an implant denture with an innovative placement method that reduces the need for preparatory grafting procedures, All-on-4 can offer implant dentures for patients who may not otherwise be good candidates for this treatment. If you want to learn more about All-on-4 or any of our other treatment options, call to schedule a tooth replacement consultation with our Tysons dental team.

What is All-on-4?

Dentist showing patient implant modelAll-on-4 is an implant supported denture technique that utilizes the naturally denser parts of the jaw to ensure successful implant placement. For many patients, this offers a viable alternative to receiving advanced grafting procedures prior to dental implant placement.

How is All-on-4 Treatment Completed?

Man and woman eating red applesThe All-on-4 treatment process is very similar to the traditional implant supported denture process with one important change – the positioning of the implant posts. Traditional dentures are supported by four to six implant posts spread over the width of the jaw line to provide support for all parts of the denture. What makes All-on-4 so innovative is the positioning of the implants. Rather than evenly spaced implants across the jaw, all four implants are positioned to anchor into the naturally denser parts of the smile in the front of the mouth. Two implants are placed vertically to support the front of the denture. Then, two longer implant posts are positioned diagonally from the back of the mouth into the front, supporting the back of the denture.

Am I a Candidate for All-on-4?

Model of implant dentureIf you’ve lost an entire row of teeth, you may want to consider replacement using the All-on-4 technique. Those patients who were previously told they would need grafting prior to implant denture placement often make the best candidates for All-on-4 dentures. Before we recommend a specific treatment plan, we’ll carefully review your current oral health and help you make the best decision to ensure a healthy, beautiful, functional smile that lasts.

How Long do All-on-4 Dentures Last?

The longevity of your All-on-4 denture depends in large part on how well they’re cared for. Traditional dentures need to be replaced every five to ten years. All-on-4 dentures typically last twenty years or longer, and many patients are able to maintain their fixed prosthetic for the rest of their lifetime. To keep your All-on-4 denture functional for longer, you should carefully brush the prosthetic at least two times each day, and for best results, we recommend brushing between meals. Additionally, we may recommend using a specialized flossing tool or water flosser to remove plaque buildup that can accumulate between the gums and denture base.
