Lumineers® are a special type of ultra-thin dental veneer. Lumineers are uniquely designed to mimic the natural appearance of your tooth enamel and can be bonded to the surface of your teeth without grinding down any of your original tooth structure. Not only does this preserve your teeth, but it also makes the bonding procedure much more comfortable for you.
When you receive Lumineers, you will need to plan for two visits to our office. During the first visit, our dentists will take a mold of your teeth and consult with you to determine the correct shade of white for your Lumineers. This mold will then be sent to the DenMat Lab, where all Lumineers are created.
After your Lumineers have been created and sent to our office, you will return for your second appointment, when our dentists will carefully and painlessly bond your Lumineers to your teeth. This process will take about an hour. You should not experience any sensitivity following the placement of your Lumineers — they are designed to feel comfortable and natural from the moment they are placed on your teeth. Your Lumineers can last for up to 20 years.

Frequently Asked Questions
What Are Lumineers?
Lumineers are ultra-thin porcelain veneers designed to improve the appearance of your smile while preserving your natural tooth structure. Unlike traditional veneers, they typically require little to no enamel removal and are custom-made to blend seamlessly with your natural teeth.
Are Lumineers Reversible?
Yes. Because Lumineers usually require little to no alteration of the natural tooth, they are often considered a reversible cosmetic treatment. This makes them a popular option for patients who want a more conservative alternative to traditional veneers.
Can Lumineers Fix Worn-Down Teeth?
Yes. Lumineers can help restore the appearance of worn-down teeth by covering worn edges and improving tooth shape. If tooth wear is caused by issues such as grinding, your dentist may recommend addressing the underlying problem before treatment.
Are Lumineers Stain-Resistant?
Lumineers are made from a specialized porcelain material that resists staining better than natural tooth enamel. While they maintain their bright appearance for many years, good oral hygiene and routine dental visits are still important for long-term results.
Do Lumineers Feel Different From Natural Teeth?
Most patients report that Lumineers feel very natural once placed. Their ultra-thin design adds minimal bulk, allowing them to blend comfortably with your bite and overall dental structure.
Can Lumineers Be Used on Just One Tooth?
Yes. Lumineers can be placed on a single tooth or multiple teeth depending on your cosmetic goals. They can be customized to match the color, size, and shape of surrounding teeth for a natural-looking result.
Can I Get Lumineers if I Have Gum Disease?
Healthy gums are essential before receiving Lumineers. If you have gum disease or other periodontal concerns, your dentist will typically recommend treating those conditions first to ensure the best fit, function, and long-term success of your Lumineers.
How Long Do Lumineers Last?
With proper care, Lumineers can last up to 20 years. Maintaining good oral hygiene, attending regular dental checkups, and avoiding habits that may damage your teeth can help maximize their longevity.
What Is the Lumineers Treatment Process Like?
The Lumineers process generally requires two appointments. During the first visit, impressions are taken and the desired shade is selected. The custom Lumineers are then fabricated in a dental lab. At the second visit, they are carefully bonded to the teeth, usually with little to no discomfort.
Can Lumineers Improve Old Dental Work?
Yes. Lumineers may be used to enhance the appearance of older dental work, such as worn veneers or discolored restorations, provided the underlying dental structures are healthy and stable.
Avanti Dentistry offers a unique model where all specialists are available in-house. This eliminates the need for referrals and allows for more efficient, coordinated care.
