Unlocking Your Best Smile: The Art and Science of Spinal Analysis in Cosmetic Dentistry

What is smile analysis? This is a frequently asked question by Avantidentistry
Join us as Dr. Fotini Chrisopoulos, a leading expert at Avanti Dentistry, delves into the fascinating world of spinal analysis in cosmetic dentistry. In this concise video, Dr. Chrisopoulos explains the intricate process of evaluating tooth and lip positions, along with the overall mouth anatomy, to create a personalized treatment plan.

Smile Analysis has to do with the tooth position, the lip position, all the anatomy of the mouth. When we have the patient come in, we take a full range of x-rays, photographs, impressions of the mouth and the current aesthetician. The most important thing is to identify what is the patient looking for, his chief complaint, because beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.

So after we have evaluated the patient, we send those impressions to our dental lab technician and he proceeds with a dental wax up. Wax up is the guideline that shows us how we want to change the shape of the teeth, the form of the teeth, and then we are able to try that in the mouth of the patient and the patient can visualize how he smiled will be before we even start.

Transforming Your Smile: The Impact of Dentures and the Permanent Solution with Implants

How can we make my dentures fit better at Avantidentistry
Discover the key to a comfortable and permanent solution for dentures with Dr. Fotini Chrisopoulos at Avanti Dentistry. In this enlightening video, Dr. Chrisopoulos discusses the common issues associated with ill-fitting dentures and how they can lead to discomfort, tissue irritation, and even changes in facial structure over time.

Not all Dentures are the same, many dentists proceed with a denture fabrication that do not fit well. If you have a denture that doesn’t fit well, you can not feel comfortable. You have irritation of your tissue, and even if you just have dentures in your mouth without any implants supporting the dentures, your whole bone changes. So over several years, you will need to replace your denture. What we hear from most of the patients is the fact that after a few years they’re not able to chew properly and we have seen them losing weight.

They’re form of the face changes, and they don’t like the fact that they have to take off the denture and place them in a cup at night. Then patients come in and they want something more permanent. Implants have evolved and our main patient pull for implants, they’re missing their teeth, are patients who have dentures and they want to improve that.

Implants go into the bone and the dentures can either snap on the implants, and then we have what we call the removable denture, or it can be fixed on the implants so the patient doesn’t take out the denture anymore, and that improves the life of the patient by improving the function, aesthetics, eating, and the patient feels more comfortable in his daily life.

Meet Your Dentist: Dr. Fotini Chrisopoulous | Dent-plant Implant Center
Meet Dr. Fotini Chrisopoulos, a Prosthodontist and smile expert who brings both science and art to her craft. With education from Columbia University and the University of Maryland, and years of international experience, she provides expert care for complex dental and implant cases.

I’m Doctor Fotini Chrisopoulos and I am a Prosthodontist, a specialized dentist.

I was born in the U.S. but we moved back to Greece on the beautiful island of Rhodes when I was six so I grew up in Greece. My brother is a pediatric dentist so having him as an older sibling it gave me an example of kind of what I want to become when I grew older. I can see the impact that a dentist could have in a patient’s life.

I kind of always had it in my mind because I loved both science and art and I have never really regret this decision. I finished dental school back in Greece where I graduated first among my dental classmates. And, then I received a scholarship in prosthodontics, which is a specialty, three years advance training, which I completed at Colombia University in New York. I also received my Masters Degree.

After my graduation from Columbia I entered a two years implant perio fellowship program at the University of Maryland. Having this five years extra education after dental school has given me the opportunity of being able to treat more complex cases. And, I’m a member of the American College of Prosthodontics.

I also am involved with lecturing and upcoming World Congress, the ISOI implant dental organization worldwide. I adore traveling so I travel easily abroad, I also love sailing in the summer. Being Greek, I’m active in the Greek community.

I love what I do because every day is a different day. I’m happy to be able to treat any kind of patient.
